The Séraphine – Antique French Still Life, 1900

We found The Séraphine at a marché aux puces outside Bordeaux, her edges softly worn and canvas left bare, just as she was originally hung. There’s an ease to the composition, an unstudied quality that gives her a quiet intimacy—like a memory rendered in brushwork.

She makes a subtle statement on her own or leaned against a wall, offering a layered, painterly calm to any space.
